Foot Health Matters

Our Aged Care Podiatry Program

At The Oakleigh Podiatrist, we understand that healthy feet are essential to comfort, mobility, and dignity, especially for older residents in aged care. Many common health conditions can quietly put feet at risk, which is why regular podiatry care is such an important part of overall wellbeing.

conditions we watch closely

Those living with any of the following are at higher risk of foot complications and benefit most from ongoing podiatry support:

Diabetes
Poor circulation (peripheral vascular disease)
Nerve damage affecting the feet (peripheral neuropathy)
Reduced mobility or difficulty with self-care
Arthritis and joint conditions affecting the feet

If any of your patients who live with these conditions, we recommend they be seen by one of our podiatrists on a regular basis.

Our 6 Weekly Podiatry Program

Wherever your patients call home, we come to them or they're welcome to come to us. Our program runs on a 4–6 weekly cycle and is available three ways:

 Facility visits

Regular on-site care for aged care and residential facilities, fitted around your routines.

Home visits

One-on-one appointments for patients living independently or with family.

In-clinic appointments

For those who prefer to visit us directly at The Oakleigh Podiatrist.

However care is delivered, patients see the same familiar podiatrist each time, building consistency and trust.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Each visit is delivered by one of our experienced, friendly podiatrists and covers:

  • A thorough initial assessment for every resident

  • Specialised diabetic foot care

  • Early detection and prevention of infection

  • Monitoring to prevent tissue breakdown that could lead to more serious complications

  • Careful trimming and management of thickened, fungal, or ingrown nails

  • Relief from painful corns and calluses

  • Treatment and follow-up for any foot injuries or trauma

Because we return every 4 to 6 weeks, small issues get caught early — before they become painful problems or hospital visits.

Care Your patients Can Rely On

We know aged care staff are stretched, families want peace of mind, and not everyone can easily get to a clinic.

That's why we've built our program around flexibility — care that meets residents where they are, whether that's in a facility, at home, or in our clinic. Our team keeps clear records, flags concerns early, and makes foot care one less thing to worry about.

Let's look after your patients, together.
